Hostile architecture is designed to be intentionally bad. It tries to be more anti-social than those perceived to be anti-social. So that a 'safe' and 'publicly accessible' space becomes a place to visit, but not stay long enough to develop a connection to the local community. It hides inequalities, mental health, homelessness and loneliness. Nature is selected in the imagery as the archetypal public space, and in contrast to the modern hostile architecture. The images create the feelings associated of being isolated, restricted, purposely guided, and potentially lost outside of the selected path.
