POSTCARDS FROM GREAT BRITAIN AND EUROPE

Group Exhibition - Shutter Hub, March 2020 - December 2021

The two postcards projects aims to create a dialogue between Great Britain and Europe. It is looking at the culture, social, political, historical, traditional and observational responses. Postcards from Great Britain brings together images of Great Britain only. In contrast, Postcards from Europe collates images made in, and of, those countries that make up the European Union, and the continents of Europe (but not of Great Britain). Images were collated into a digital and print catalogue, to be housed in libraries and archives around the world.

POSTCARD FROM GREAT BRITAIN: LUNCHTIME BY THE THAMES

London, United Kingdom.

There is a "strolling" culture, especially during the lunchtime period. It's when you are supposed to get your coffee from the local Barista and wrapped sandwich "on-the-go" to keep up with the fast-pace of the city, and you find "your spot" to eat and drink before returning to the office. I found myself living in London doing anything possible to reduce the amount of time I spent on the crowded tube and started walking between the tube stations and further afield. When you are on the tube you don't look too closely at the people sharing your journey, but you notice their shapes and motions and that's what I wanted to capture through these "identifiable types" of silhouettes of those strolling along by the river.

POSTCARD FROM EUROPE: THE SEA AIR

Sanlúcar de Barrameda, Spain.

Prescribe the sea air, as an opportunity to escape the pollution and stresses of a crowded city. Listen to the sound of the waves, the feel of the sand and be reinvigorated by the cold water's embrace.
